It’s ‘humpday’ as I write this, the weather is dire and the inspiration to write something is seriously lacking.
I saw a co-lab that Casey Neistat did on YouTube with Peter McKinnon, they basically got together so Casey could learn some tips and they exchanged ideas. I think that Casey gave some of the best advice to creators. He said:
‘Don’t let perfection get in the way of good enough’
This is such a powerful statement. Again I will relate this to my challenge of writing; the only thing I have to focus on in these thirty days is to get some words down.
I won’t lie to you but today is one of those uninspired days. It’s grey, wet and miserable with flooding on some parts of the island. Driving in this morning, the roads were filled with standing water and the normal seven minute commute took fifteen minutes. Am I really complaining about this? It’s just a challenging time at the moment in more ways than one, which I will elaborate on at a later stage.
I am however looking forward to going to an event tonight. I haven’t been out networking for a long time and I desperately feel the need to be inspired and by doing it; it will help my mindset and inspire me with new ideas to write about. Tonight is the chapter launch of ‘SingularityU Douglas’.
SingularityU Douglas Chapter will bring the awareness and influence of a network of entrepreneurs, executives, government leaders and more, who are leading the way to solving the world’s biggest challenges with innovative use of rapidly advancing technologies.
Today was the Autumn Budget in the UK, which we technically aren’t part of, but it does have an impact on us from a certain point of view. Well, I was very happy to hear the Chancellor of the Exchequer has announced a new £400m charging infrastructure fund, investment of an extra £100m in the Plug-In-Car Grant and £40m in charging R&D. Now Isle of Man, you are in the perfect position to up your game in this field! I have a feeling that 2018 is going to be a big year for electric cars here and I would love my next car to be fully electric, well that’s my goal!
