With 2012 kicking into high gear, so does Derek “TheBandit” Richardson. As a celebrated DJ, producer and successful lateral new media strategist, Richardson’s broadband approach to all that he embraces sees him heading to London this June to perform at one of the biggest music events, prior to the opening of the city’s hosting of the 2012 Olympics.

It’s been four years since Richardson packed up his technology, decks and record boxes and flew north from South Africa to begin the next exciting chapter in his multi-media entertainment life. Today “TheBandit” is happily ensconced on the Isle of Man, where, between producing multiple podcasts, spinning decks and configuring corporate media strategies, he can be can heard on 3FM (www.three.fm).
As a man of clearly many talents, music has led Richardson down a path rutted with a plethora of opportunities – all of which he has embraced and grown with. Most recently, and after a four-year radio silence down south, South Africa once again got to celebrate Derek ”TheBandit’s” virtual return to local radio when he signed up to present a weekly show, every Saturday from 6pm, on Mix 93.8FM (www.mixfm.co.za).
A true digital native, “TheBandit” has also been producing critical, cutting-edge, podcasts since 2006. With a library, hosted at his music website, www.soundrepublic.co.za, extending beyond 100 editions and continues to attract 10 000 listeners new listeners a month.
When Richardson’s not in front of a few thousand screaming dance fans, or presenting either of his radio shows, he can be found reshaping the way new applies to business.
