It’s hard to believe that it’s been five days of daily blogging and my challenge to write everyday hasn’t got any easier, but I guess it is still early days and I have to keep my head down and go for it.
Lots of interesting tech stories around, so I thought I would highlight a few that caught my eye. Twitter has rolled out the new extended text option, no longer 140 characters, excluding images and links. Now that limit has been extended to 280 characters, I can’t see this as being a game changer for the platform that has failed to innovate for years. Did you know that Twitter is no longer regarded as a social network? It is now a news app in the Apple App Store! Which makes sense nowadays as it’s the place where I get my daily news. I love Twitter lists; I hardly ever look at the main feed. I have created various lists (including a news list) so I can pop into the lists and get a quick update.
Facebook announced that Messenger is now available as a ‘Customer Chat Plugin’ for your website.
One of our most highly requested features is the ability to extend Messenger experiences onto a business’s website. Today, we are happy to announce the release of the customer chat plugin in closed beta. With customer chat plugin, people can chat with businesses on their websites and in Messenger (across web, mobile or tablet) and transition back and forth seamlessly without losing the conversation’s history and context. This makes it easier for customers to continue the conversation with a business whenever and wherever it’s most convenient for them.
I have to say I think this is going to work for them and businesses. The Messenger App is fantastic for customer engagement and it has great functionality. It’s currently in a closed beta, but you can apply to join the test.
CHRISTMAS IS COMING!
Now, we are heading to festive season and being in advertising I love the UK TV Christmas adverts, which I only watch online by the way! A few days ago Mark & Spencer released Paddington & The Christmas Visitor #LoveTheBear. I’ve loved Paddington since I was a kid and remember having a small version of him as a toy. The next Paddington movie is released this month, ‘Small Bear Big Trouble’ sounds like a trip to the movies is in order. The final book called: ”Paddington At St Paul’s’ will be released in 2018, Michael Bond died at the age of 91 earlier this year. He wrote over 150 books, now that’s an impressive writing career. Back to the advert – watch it below!
Isn’t that adorable, hope it gets you into the festive spirit. I am eagerly waiting for John Lewis to release their Christmas ad, as they always deliver something special. No pressure on them really 😉
As mentioned previously these are posted a few days after writing, so here is the John Lewis Christmas Advert.
So from the reaction on Twitter, it looks like Moz is a dud this year!
Thanks for your time!
